Recorded twice at fast speed on side A, sibe B was empty.
The whole software is in a ring binder, the tape seemed to be... Taped! The manual began with the title on a cardboard page, then 36 paper pages printed on one side only (and the last being completely empty), and finally another cardboard page (empty).
From Geoff Phillips, in 2024: "From what I remember, I wrote some fundamental core routines in assembler that built a sort of SQL kind of language, like !OPEN or something. Then megabase built around that core of commands. So there was once, then a command list, unless I am remembering wrongly and this was some other unfinished idea - plenty of those around!"
From Paul Kaufman, in 2024, about his involvement: "It originally was released as Oric Base through Tansoft. When we left Tansoft to start Orpheus, Geoff revamped it and it was released as MegaBase. So it was a substantially enhanced version of Oric Base. Orpheus was my company. I helped Geoff with the testing of the software and writing the manual." |
